Week 6 – The History of Jesus as the Hope of Israel

GospelIn week 6 we consider the sacrifice of Jesus in light of: 1) Abraham’s prophetic assurance that God would provide a lamb (Genesis 22:8) 2) the redemptive effects of the blood of the lamb (Exodus 12), and 3) YWH’s promise that Eve’s seed would one day bruise his heel as he crushed the head of the serpent.

We also look at the resurrection of Jesus as the ultimate typological fulfillment of restoration in light of Ezekiel 37. Finally, we see that Jesus was establishing his entirely new creation in the disciples when he “breathed on them” (John 20) – just as YWH did when he created man (Genesis 1).
